Heavenly Hearted

holy experience

Matthew 6:20-21 (New Living Translation)
20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

This morning I am grateful for the Focus on Marriage simulcast that Paul and I went to on Saturday at our church. 81 people attended; driving through a blizzard from as far away as Huntsville to get there (nearly 200 km.)

One of the speakers was Francis Chan, and he challenged us to a radical love by reading the final letters between Christopher Love and his wife; who was pregnant with their fifth child; when Christopher was executed on Tower Hill in London, for his faith.

Francis's challenge was to look beyond the present that so preoccupies us, and realize that there is more to this life than gathering material comforts and fulfilling our needs.

If it sounds a bit sobering, it was, but Francis was also funny and I'd like to leave you with this song that he sang for his wife.

I thank God for those who dare to live for God radically.

That ability to live radically for Christ is such a gift...

Yes, that is exactly what I thought!
